As of February 1, the validity of CoV vaccination after the second vaccination will be shortened from nine to six months. As of today, this still affects about 320,000 people who have not yet received a booster and thus no longer have a valid 2-G certificate as of Tuesday.
The deadline will not be postponed and no transition period will be introduced. This was announced at the government press conference today.
The expiration was first communicated in November 2021, and the ministry pointed out that affected people had been informed of the change via push notifications in the Green Pass app, among other places – but those who had push notifications disabled did not get the message. The ministry stressed that reminders for the third vaccination are sent out “on an ongoing basis,” and the shortening is also pointed out in them. At the beginning of February – i.e. after the shortening and after the compulsory vaccination has come into force – there will also be mailings to all households about the compulsory vaccination, communicating the shortening from nine to six months.
